The reason for the name

This is how we came up with our daughter's name. When we started the adoption process we really didn't think of any names. As I read other families blogs most people had a name picked out for their child. Ryan and I originally thought we would be waiting 3 years before we would have to think of a name so we would toss some ideas around that we liked but never really had a serious discussion. One name we had both liked even long before the adoption process started was Samantha Ryan. We both loved the name and we really thought that was going to be the name. Then one day we meet a little girl named Samantha and bam I hated the name. The little girl was a little devil and not very nice. It seemed every were I turned someones dog or child was named Sammy, Sam or Samantha. So I said hun we need to think of another name. Ryan was not happy with changing the name. He really loved the name, but it just didn't fit for me. So one night sitting on the couch I said lets think of some names we like, after going though a list of a million names and Ryan saying no to everyone of them I said Emma and he said yes. So Emma stuck and we both liked it. Emma has a really beautiful meaning, Universal. I thought the meaning was great. So we started walking around and saying the name Emma and we knew it was the right name. As most of our families know Ryan's mom had passed away unexpectedly right after we met. Her name was Linda. We really wanted to incorporate her name into Emma's. So we thought Linda as a middle name, but it didn't seem to flow nicely then we thought just Lynn, but wasn't crazy about the spelling. Then all of a sudden we came up with Lin. Lin was the perfect fit, not only is it a Chinese name meaning Jade but also is the way his mom spelled her name. We loved it so now onto weather or not to name our daughter Emma Lin Inch or EmmaLin Inch. WE didn't make this decision until we got our referral and saw our precious daughter face. After much thought and time and going back and forth between the two names we decided on EmmaLIn as her first name. Giving her, her own unique name but still honoring Ryan's mom and EmmaLIn gran mom. So 5 months later we thought about a middle name. We came to the conclusion we would really like EmmaLin to have my mom's incorporated into her name. So tonight we gave my mom the decision to pick between two variations of her name. My moms name is Gloria, so the choices were Glori or Glorianna. Ryan loved Glori and I of course loved Glorianna. But I lost two to 1 in favor of Glori. So our daughters name is EmmaLin Glori Inch. Well our daughter name means universal, Jade and Glory. But most of all the She is named after both her grandmom's. I love it and I really think our daughter will love it to.
